Stay Safe!
Stay Safe! Offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth 9-13 years old. Participants learn about being safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities.
Prairie First Aid Training is a Training Partner with The Canadian Red Cross and is permitted to offer Virtual Delivery of the CRC Stay Safe! Program. Virtual Delivery allows the participants to complete the program from their home over our Zoom account. We will send out course packages (including the Stay Safe! Manual, Gloves, Bandaging, and a gift from Prairie First Aid for your child) prior to the course so that your child will have everything that they will need to complete the program. The only supplies that your child will need will be a stuffed animal/doll to practice bandaging and choking relief procedures.
Safety Considerations:
- An adult must be on site with the learner—they do not need to be present in the video, but they must be available in the space for help if needed.
- Each learner needs to have their video and audio on for the duration of the session so the instructor can see if they leave the room, are distracted, etc. (audio can be muted as needed)
- Recording sessions is not permitted unless parents have signed disclosure statements.
- ***Manitoba Law REQUIRES a child to be a minimum of 12 years old to home alone or babysit (family members or otherwise). This course does not supersede Manitoba Law.***
